Ouroboros is an ancient symbol depicting a dragon, snake, or serpentine mythical beast that envelopes some object (at times the world) and completes the encirclement by biting its own tail, often as the precursor to autosarcophagy.
The symbol is one of the eternal cyclic renewal, or a cycle of life, death and rebirth; the snake's skin sloughing symbolises the transmigration of souls. The snake biting its own tail is also a fertility symbol in some religions.
This pendant takes the Ouroboros and transforms it into the quatrefoil; the 'four leaves' design common in European Gothic as well as traditional Christian design and architecture. It is a unique symbol to which plenty of meaning and significance can be ascribed.
This pendant is supplied with a cord.
