Sabres were ubiquitous weapons in Eastern Europe for footmen and cavalry during the medieval periods, made famous by many warriors including the Polish Winged Hussars, the iconic heavy cavalry of the Polish Commonwealth. The curved blades then became popular in Western Europe as cavalry weapons during the Napoleonic era. The full hand guard, balanced weight and curve of the sabre blade made it ideal for cleaving through enemies from atop a horse.

This sword is made with our 'D guard Kit for Sabre' and our Type-1 combat sword blank, giving it a silhouette reminiscent of the Turkish kilij. The parts fit very well together and produced a blade that sits very well in the hands. The full curve lets you cut better, especially if galloping atop a warhorse with a lance in your other hand. Ideal for re-enactors looking for a combat sabre.

Please note: this sword has been made with a nut at the end of the tang to secure the handle. Combat re-enactors should instead peen the tang for better construction strength and historical accuracy.
