A detailed replica of a Viking crucifix from Gotland. The historical model for this Viking crucifix comes from the Viking Age find at Sanda on the Swedish island of Gotland. Similar crucifixes with the depiction of Jesus are found very often in the finds from the end of the Viking Age and were worn especially by the eastern Vikings, the Rus. Cross pendants like this one with the depiction of Jesus in a blessing gesture were both a profession of faith and a protective amulet.

In the course of the Viking Age, the custom of wearing a cross with the image of Christ around the neck also reached Scandinavia, often intending to distinguishing oneself from the so-called pagans, the Old Believers, who still adhered to the old faith in the gods. These crucifixes were often made by the Vikings with representations of Jesus on the cross, which was particularly widespread among the Vikings in eastern Sweden and western Russia and went back to Byzantine influences. 

A black leather cord in 1 m length is included with the Viking crucifix.
