The Talhoffer Buckler - an exquisitely beautiful shield with no match in construction, aesthetic, or function.
Based on the buckler seen in Das Fechtbuch (The Fight Book) by Hans Talhoffer, a 15thC manual for fighting and fencing with all manner of weapons, including sword and buckler where this shield makes its famous appearance.
Made of solid low carbon steel with steel handle and hardwood grip, this buckler is made with symmetrical flutes and protrusions; the classic 15thC German way of combining style with function. The flutes help to deflect opponents weapons, and the convex nature will crowd their vision when in combat.
This shield is truly a work of art and a fully functioning steel buckler for HEMA, re-enactment, and HMB combat. If the great master Talhoffer liked it, then you certainly will!
