The seax was a versatile, single edged blade used by Germanic and Scandinavian cultures from the early Migration Period through the Viking Age, or roughly the 5thC through to the 11thC. The term 'seax' means 'cutting tool' or 'knife' in Old English, and was used for food preparation, cutting, carving, and then later warfare.

This particular seax is a standard, functional and rustic piece just ready to be picked up and used. With a sharp edge, this knife is practical and can be used just as it was a thousand years ago. It features a full tang, high carbon steel blade fitted to a sanded wooden hilt. The hilt features no decorations - letting you etch, burn or add to the blank slate as you see fit. Or, leave it blank and let the utility of the seax speak for itself. The knife also comes with a fitted leather scabbard inside which the seax sits securely, and features a leather loop for attaching to your belt.

A perfect seax for Viking enthusiasts seeking their next collectors item, or re-enactors looking to add a sharp and practical piece to their arsenal.
