Rough but serviceable. I fixed two of these to some rapiers and they held up very nicely against some bashing by other beefy swords. The only problems I have are rusty spots in the crevices and some very obvious and ugly welds. Otherwise, if you want a basic guard for a rapier and you don't care about looks. Grab this

Basic, robust steel guard. Suits simple rapier or sidesword. This is pretty much unfinished and will require some burnishing with a dremel, or similar, to clean it up. Once cleaned, blueing or polishing will improve the appearance tremendously. A little judicious filing will allow the Hanwei practical rapier blade to slot straight into the guard for an inexpensive, functional sidesword.
The ridiculously low price means that, with a bit of application, a full steel HEMA sword can be constructed for under £120 sterling

Roughly un-finished, needs a little of fileworking .This stuff is STRONG,very protective, is PERFECT for training or combat swords if you are looking for something cheap but functional. Great value for price.
