A Fibula is technically a safety pin or brooch of Roman origin. All fibulae were practical and served a purpose and in some cases were highly decorative. This style is very similar to what modern people call a safety pin. It was most often used to fasten clothes or cloaks.
This fibula is based on a find from Heimstetten and dates form the 1st century BC.
