A sabre with a classic D-shape hand guard crafted at the MFC workshop from MFC parts. Don't want to make your own sword? Have one that we made then!
Sabres were ubiquitous weapons in Eastern Europe for footmen and cavalry during the medieval periods, made famous by many warriors including the Polish Winged Hussars, the iconic heavy cavalry of the Polish Commonwealth. The curved blades then became popular in Western Europe as cavalry weapons during the Napoleonic era. The full hand guard, balanced weight and curve of the sabre blade made it ideal for cleaving through enemies from atop a horse.
This sword is made with our 'D guard Kit for Sabre' and our Type-2 mini sabre blank. The parts fit very well together and produced a blade that sits very comfortably in the hands. An ideal short side-arm for re-enactor spearmen, gunners, or dual-wielders.
Please note: this sword has been made with a nut at the end of the tang to secure the handle. Combat re-enactors should instead peen the tang for better construction strength and historical accuracy.
