This helmet features an 18 gauge steel construction, with resplendent brass fixings; including fixing points for a plume (not included with helmet) and cheek plate tie points. It also comes with a padded helmet liner.
Dating to the 3rd quarter of the 1st century AD, the original of this helmet was found in the Rhine River at Mainz-Weisenau and is now exhibited in Worms, Germany.
This faithful Weisenau example features the carrying handle and the brass rosettes resemble those found on the lorica segmentata in the Corbridge hoard.
Fragments of helmets of this style were also found in rubbish pits at Colchester and have been reassembled and are on display at the Colchester Castle Museum. Helmets of this style are dated to the Boudican revolt of AD 6.
