How to apply for a weapon permit for Victoria

Victorian citizens need a permit to own swords. The good news is that depending on how you plan to use the sword, you could actually be exempt from needing a permit.

For example, exemptions often apply to various activities like theatre and film productions, being a member of scouting organisations, participating in Scottish Pipe Bands or Highland dancing, and even certain religious groups or clubs.

Now, if none of the exemptions apply to you, it’s not a massive problem. You can still make your purchase, but we will need one of the following:

1. "Chief Commissioner's Approval to Possess Prohibited Weapons." OR
2. Membership in a club that holds a "Governor In Council Exemption." If you're a member of such a club, kindly share the club's name with us.

These groups make it super easy and can provide the necessary coverage and permits for owning and using a sword or dagger in Victoria.
