An awesome replica of an amulet from Haithabu, one of the most impressive pieces of jewellery from the late Viking Age.

The original Haithabu amulet was crafted using an elaborate granulation technique in the so-called Terslev style. Our replica, on the other hand, is completely cast in one piece, whereby the depiction is splendidly expressed. The Terselv style has its origins in Carolingian-Ottoman models that appeared throughout the Baltic region from the second half of the 10th century onwards. Such Viking amulets in Terslev style, decorated with granulated filigree decoration, are also known from the island of Hiddensee and from Danish Zealand. In the granulated originals, small beads and fine wires were soldered onto the amulet in filigree hand work.

The treasure of Terslev was buried towards the end of the tenth century on the island of Zealand in Denmark and consisted of a considerable 6.6 kg of silver, including 1751 coins, mainly of Arab origin.

In addition, the treasure consisted of necklaces and bracelets, necklaces and amulets, a toilet set as well as a silver drinking service with several cups and a large embossed bowl presumably of Persian origin. The silver treasure from Terslev is now in the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen.

Please note a 1 m leather cord is included with the pendant.
