Built with the practicality expected of late medieval Swiss armour, this articulated bevor offers excellent protection without sacrificing movement. The articulated neck plates allow the wearer to look downward in combat, while the included harness strap secures the bevor firmly to a cuirass.
Designed to be worn alongside a sallet, the bevor protected the throat, chin, and lower face with overlapping articulated lames and a locking pin system. The upper plates could be raised or lowered, allowing the wearer to speak more easily when required.
The name “bevor” is believed to derive from a term associated with drinking or dribbling, fitting for armour that guarded the mouth and jaw.
