This gilded helmet is an awesome replica of an incredibly impressive and remarkable helmet from 10thC Belarus.

The original helmet is in incredibly good condition and along with a high-quality restoration by the archaeological team made it possible to make a complete description of the helmet, including its dimensionality, design, and ornamental features. The inspired ornamental design of the helmet is quite prominent, as it featured silver plating, gilding and copper inserts which together created a polychrome ensemble of awesome beauty. 

Yet, the work of art undoubtedly retained its function as a combat helmet. The complex metalwork and blacksmithing required of making a helmet along with the jewellery skills required to gild and inlay metal make this helmet assuredly a helmet of someone of high status.

This replica is a faithful recreation of the original helmet. It features copper inlay like the original, but substitutes brass for the gold plating and steel for the silver. It retains the dot patterning along segments of the helm, and follows the four-panel construction perfectly. A plume can be inserted in the top, and several loops spaced around the base of the helm allow for an aventail to be added fairly easily. An adjustable leather helmet liner is also inside.
