The seax was a versatile, single edged blade used by Germanic and Scandinavian cultures from the early Migration Period through the Viking Age, or roughly the 5thC through to the 11thC. The term 'seax' means 'cutting tool' or 'knife' in Old English, and was used for food preparation, cutting, carving, and then later warfare.

This particular seax is a beautiful and intricate piece that is still functional and ready to be used. With a sharp edge, this knife is practical and can be used just as it was a thousand years ago. It features a full tang, high carbon Damascus steel blade fitted to a polished wooden hilt and secured with brass end cap, with carved horn decoration in the form of an hourglass shape at the neck. Not only that, but this seax also comes with a beautifully decorated scabbard replete with brass plating etched with the same triangular pattern as seen on many Viking torcs and bracelets.

This seax manages to be not only a sharp, practical and robust cutting tool, but also a pure work of art and style with a mesmerising Damascus steel blade, etched horn and polished wood handle, and a brass plated and decorated thick leather scabbard. A truly great piece for Viking enthusiasts seeking their next collectors item, or re-enactors looking to add a sharp and practical piece to their arsenal.

Please note - as this is a Damascus steel blade, it will differ slightly from the patterning shown in the images, but will still look as good!

Very Happy I was rather eager to receive my cloak, already having certain thoughts on what to expect. And upon it's hasty arrival, I was more than content with the product. Was very happy with the liberal amount of fabric used in it's making, the extra length wonderfully drapes behind. -[Just what I wanted as I AM a tall lady!] The cloak has a good weight about it too which with it's lusciousness of texture, deep generous hood and impressive embroidery trim, truly makes for an awesome cloak. Very warm and comfy to wear as well as sleep in as I found! LOL
Only thing that surprised me was the colour wasn't as contrasted and as bold as in the initial photo; [could be a lighting thing in that particular shot ] Or maybe there are two blue styles! The second photo of the product does lend to this theory! ...The colour I wanted was the darker bluey one but in thinking this a bad shot with lighting and thusly was categorised as black, I opted for the bolder blue. I was a lil hesitant about what to expect with the colour. Happily, I got what I wanted. A very lush deep navy blue that looks more like the black cloak on the second product photo! LOL [This could be a sunlight factor!] Regardless I'm incredibly happy!...
-It has far exceeded my expectations! I'm Cloaked & Ecstatic! ;)

Very Pleased Very happy with the quality of the cape I received. Well made & finished, especially around the neckline were the lining in the hood is attached to cape. A little too long for me but then again, I am a bit short, maybe!

Pleasantly surprised We ordered this cloak in black for an upcoming photo-shoot. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the product. It's a professionally sewn cloak with a generous amount of material. Fully lined with satin and a glorious velour outer material make for an impressive garment. The embroidery on the edges are an added bonus. Our only problem is that the button/loop that fastens the hood may break easily...but still..it's only a very minor detail. We'll probably use a clasp anyway. Price is VERY reasonable for a garment of this quality.
