A handmade combat weapon based off of a sabre or naval cutlass designed for use in re-enactment combat. Constructed from 4 parts: a sword blade, bowl guard, rubber grip and lock nut, all hammered into place and tightly secured. The sword blade is EN45 spring steel featuring a 1 mm edge, the bowl guard is 1.2 mm high carbon steel, and the grip is made of rubber.

The cutlass was favoured especially by 17thC sailors and pirates due to its size and weight. It was small enough to be potent in close-quarters, such as during a boarding action onto an enemy vessel, below deck, and in the rigging. Additionally, the single edged slashing nature of the weapon allowed its effectual use without extensive training, unlike the sabre or rapier.

The point of the blade may need rounding before use in certain combat codes.
