This leg protection is made from high quality split leather and steel plates with brass cinquefoils and brass rivets. It is based on a pair worn by Sir Thomas Cheyne (1375) as seen on his brass funeral plate.
These cuisses feature steel strips/plates on the inside of the leather and a decorated fringe below the steel knee protection. The thigh leather is secured to the leg by three leather straps. The knee plate has two leather straps at the top and bottom and brass buckles.
The knee plate and cuisses are photographed with ties joining them together, however these are not included with the armour. Thick leather thonging or paracord are well suited for securing these parts together.
Please note: There may be slight oxidation marks on the interior plates. They are surface only, will not effect the strength of the armour, and as they are inward-facing plates the marks will not be visible externally.
