Full tang multi-use dagger for the combat re-enactor. Could be used in combat after rounding the tip. This dagger features a circular (round) guard & pommel, wooden grip and full tang blade. Scabbard shown in picture is included, it is currently dark brown.

The stiletto blade is long and thin with a triangle cross-section.

The straight narrow blade would not have lent itself to a slashing or sabre action. Rondel daggers that were narrow were ideal in battle for puncturing chain mail, and although they would not have been able to punch through plate armour, they could be forced between the joints in a suit of armour and helmets. This was often the only way in which a heavily armoured knight could be killed.

First developed in Italy, the stiletto dates from the late 1400s, was used well into the renaissance, and is thought to be a development of the rondel dagger or misericordia, a needle-pointed weapon with a narrow blade designed primarily for thrusting, though possessing cutting edges. Early stilettos normally used a one-piece cast-metal handle which was shaped and turned on a lathe. The stiletto blade was usually hammer-forged into a dense rod with a narrow, triangular cross section, without any sharpened edges. However, other examples of the period have emerged bearing round, square, or diamond cross sections.

Brilliant I am so impressed by the strength and build quality of this dagger.
It's as strong as an ox and the thinness is not something to be concerned about. I can but 100kgs of weight on it and it barely flexes.
The tang is thick and strong (though mine was rusty) and the threaded end a solid extension of the tang- not a welded addition.
The tip is nicely rounded for safety but if sharpened I reckon I could punch it through a car door.
The grip is comfortable and the sheath is well done.
An excellent item to zest up your dagger training or demonstrations.
