El Cid is a Spanish popular folk-hero from the 11th century and took part in the First Crusades. Numerous plays, films, folktales, songs, and even video games memorialize him.
El Cid had two swords one named Tizona and the other Colada.
The blade Colada is preserved in the Royal Palace of Madrid - the blade is traditionally identified with El Cid and a 16th-century hilt has been added.
