Replica of Merovingian S-Brooch with Cloisonné.
This beautiful replica of a Merovingian S-Brooch (S-Fibula) from the 6th century is made after a find from a Germanic cemetery.
The S-Fibula was widespread among the Germanic tribes and used by the Bavarians, Alemannic and Longobards, This particular Germanic jewellery was a fundamental part of the early Medieval women costume. Therefore, the S-brooch can be found in large numbers in early medieval finds from the 5th to the 7th century.
Unlike the historical original, this S-Fibula is not made with genuine almandine cloisonné, but with red glass flow.
On the back of the brooch there is a stable needle attached that also suits to close thick fabric.
