The Militia Templi, was a monastic military order (like the Knight's Templar) that was founded in 1146 in Portugal, under the banner of Saint Benedict of Aviz. Other than having the coolest name, they were very influential in early Portugal, once even having their Grand Master on the throne.
This sword is modeled after the swords used by the Knights of Aviz. It is a typical arming sword of the era, and would be wielded in one hand and perhaps complimented by a shield. It features a carbon steel blade with a long fuller, a wide, straight crossguard made from brass and a leather bound grip. The pommel is round, and features a brass enameled cross. There are also several crosses etched around the sword; two on the blade and four on the crossguard. The sword also comes with a leather bound wooden scabbard, with a steel locket, chape, neck and belt loops for a baldric.
We at MFC recommend further blunting of the tip before use in combat.
