These cuisses are excellent. I have tested these in combat and can confirm that they afford great protection whilst feeling well fitted allowing for comfort and ease of movement. They not only provide protection from the front but also along the full flank of your outer leg to the rear. At first I wore these suspended from a belt and they performed well however I now have a proper arming doublet and I attach that to the generous amount of leather along the top of the cuisses and I have to say my movement and performance is now superior. The leather whether you use a belt or an arming doublet is strong and sturdy affording you to tie these with very good purchase. The thickness of the leather is more than ample. The fluting on these looks fantastic but definitely increases the strength of the plate and makes them lighter compared to other non fluted cuisses I own that are the same gauge but when weighed by contrast are heavier. I have been hit on the leg with these from different kinds of weapons including a hammer and whilst feeling the blows of the weapon these cuisses mitigate the blow better than anything else I own. I have large upper legs but the straps are more than long enough to wrap around them also the amount of straps allow for a tight non slip fit if you tie them properly. I highly recommend these.

I haven't used them in combat yet, but they seem like they will do great. It could use some more protection for the back of the knees for those wanting to use it for combat, like an extension on the sides, but aside from that they look great and they have plenty of straps. I don't think having an apex pointing below the knee was a good idea, but its not sharp. It makes packing it places a little more annoying, but I think its still good to have that area protected.

great legs great set of plate legs. Practical, with excellent coverage of back of thigh and knee, and they are damned attractive to boot. :)
