The burgonet was developed in Burgundy, a region of France, and worn most extensively in 16th century Europe.
It was used chiefly by cavalry soldiers as a substitute for the heavier close-helms and armets.

This impressive, if utilitarian helmet offers incredible protection to the neck as well as the head and face. Styled after the burgonet helms worn by Europe's royal armies of the 1500s, this helmet is engineered for use by SCA, reenactors and HMB combatants.

The helmet features two visors that are easily interchanged via hooks and clasps fastened to the sides of the helm. One is barred for SCA combat, and the other is a full face helm for a more historic, but no less protective, look. In addition, the helmet comes with a leather webbing for height adjustment and a leather chinstrap, as well as fully hinged cheek flaps.

An exquisitely designed and robustly constructed helmet like this is a perfect addition for any 16thC helmet collection.
