Turn shoes are by far the most common form of shoe for the middle and dark ages. Capable of being constructed with only basic sewing skills but 0 shoemaking knowledge, the turn shoe was an easy and reliable method proven by its popularity.
These ankle shoes are made of beautiful, soft supple leather. These are handcrafted leather shoes using the turn-shoe method, with the correct period style tunnel stitching. The sole and upper were joined together inside out, and then turned right side out. This put the stitch between the outside of the shoe and the sole above the sole, improving the shoe's resistance to water. This type of shoe was usually fastened by a drawstring or lacing.
There may be a slight difference in the sole leather.
Please Note: The nature of turn shoes means that a larger foot may fit a smaller size. If this is the case you can easily return or simply wear thicker socks.
