A doublet was originally a stitched and quilted lining ("doubling"), worn under a hauberk or cuirass to prevent bruising and chafing. It often provided arming points for additional armor and this doublet is no exception. Plenty of points front and back, quilted and sporting cloth buttons - worthy of any great battlefield.
