This 'left handed' dagger & scabbard is based on a German design from the late 16thC. See additional pictures for more detail on the fantastic wire grip.

Despite the name, the left-handed dagger is not necessarily made for left-handed people. It was actually designed as a companion to the rapier and therefore often used in the left hand.

It is used to strike while the rapier, in the right hand, holds the defence.

The sheath for this dagger is currently dark brown.

Overall Length: 435mm (17 inches)
Blade: 290mm (11¼ inches)

Crossguard Width:
130mm
Grip Length: 80mm
Dagger Weight: 435g

Please Note : This dagger is 'full tang' and can be very sharp and not intended for combat or as a toy.

Combat capable score: 8 of 10 - Simply too sharp to use in combat otherwise it would have a score of 9 or 10.

A solid, well-made dagger. Looks much nicer in person than in the photos. Feels very agile in the hand, since most of the weight is in the hilt/grip.

While it DOES seem sturdy enough to use in a re-enactment or similar event, you would need to blunt the tip and edges. It doesn't come razor sharp, but it's still sharp enough be dangerous.

If you plan on wearing this dagger with the included sheath, you WILL need to tie the dagger in place! Most of the weight is in the grip/hilt, and the belt loop on the sheath is quite flexible, so the entire thing tends to tilt when worn and the dagger consistently falls out.

For safety's sake, I punched a couple of holes in the belt loop of my sheath and put a piece of leather cord through, allowing me to tie the grip of the dagger to the belt loop and keep it in place.
